A note to you from the missionary who's making it all happen:

To the Friends of Elise Lanning,
I have been a pastor, author and missionary for the past forty years.  I have known the Lanning family since before they were a family.  My wife and I have watched Elise grow into an amazing young lady who excels in every way.  It is our joy for her to travel with us to Thailand and work for several weeks in a ministry we support. This will not be a short term, one shot evangelism trip nor will it be a vacation with a few ministry activities to justify the expense.
Elise will be immersing herself in the Thai culture and into the lives of the Thai people.  She will live with and help lead 30 young Thai Christian gals and guys from five to twenty five years old.  She will be living near the Thai/Burmese border where thousands of refugees cross to escape the fighting in Burma/Myanmar.  She will spend nearly two months sharing Christ on the university campus, helping Thai students with their education, helping them learn English and develop computer skills, assisting the local YWAM outreach and equip these young people to change their culture and country from business to education to church planting.
This is an opportunity of a lifetime that will powerfully influence many lives and your tax deductible gift will make it happen.  If you haven't given yet, there is still time.  If you have given, you may feel impressed to give a little more.  Elise is "good ground" to sow into and this experience will bear fruit in Thailand for years to come!

The visa is in!

The visa came in today!!! Everything is becoming more and more of a reality as the date approaches. I've been emailing back and forth with Deb about clothing options. If any of you have clothes you would like to send with me to give to the children, please let me know, and I'll make space in my suit case! I still have $1,465 left to raise, but I have no doubt that God will supply what I need for the trip financially and fulfill me beyond my imagination spiritually. I would love to hear from y'all (nice to know I'm not talking to empty cyberspace). If you've gone on a mission trip: where did you go, how long were you there, and what is one piece of advice that I could benefit from before heading off to my desert?

I love you all and cannot wait to hear from you,

Elise

Airfare & Visa- check!

After contributing $300 myself , airfare and visa are now paid for!!! I received an email from the company processing my Visa saying that they received all the documents today! Now the support money will go towards packing necessities, and living expenses while in Thailand. With less than a month away and almost at the half-way mark financially, I am getting both excited and nervous. Please pray that God will continue to be faithful in every aspect of this trip. As hurdles come, I know he will teach me how to jump higher.

I love you all so very much and will update again soon! God bless you!

Airfare Booked!!!

I am taking off from the DFW airport on March 18th, 2012 at 12:45p.m. I will be overnighting in Tokyo and then flying to Chiang Rai, Thailand the next day! My flight back will begin on May 8th and I will land in DFW on May 9th. Booking this was probably one of the biggest hurdles, so I am overjoyed to have this checked off the list! Please keep praying for me!
